Russia Seizes US Supply Weapons in Ukraine, Then Sends to Iran

Washington DC

Russia reportedly seized a number of ordnance supplied by United States of America (USA) and NATO for Ukraine then send it to Iran. Washington believes Tehran will seek to dismantle and analyze the US-made weapons system.

As reported CNNSaturday (11/3/2023), the report was revealed by four sources with knowledge of the US investigation into CNN.

Over the past year, the US along with NATO and other Western nations have seen several instances of Russian forces seizing smaller, shoulder-fired weapons, such as the Javelin anti-tank system and the Stinger anti-aircraft system which Ukrainian forces have occasionally been forced to leave on the battlefield.

In most cases, cite the sources cited CNNMoscow then flew the US-supplied weapons and military equipment to Iran, to be further disassembled and analyzed so that Tehran could make their own version of similar weapons.

Russia, according to the sources, believes that continuing to provide Iran with captured Western weaponry will encourage Tehran to retain its support for Moscow’s war in Ukraine.

However, the sources continued, US officials do not believe such problems are widespread or systemic in Ukraine.

It was also stated that since the beginning, Ukrainian troops had a habit of reporting to the Pentagon on US-supplied weapons or military equipment that fell into the hands of Russian troops. Still, US officials admit such issues are difficult to track.
