Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalnywho died in strange circumstances in prison last February, died of arrhythmia, according to the official version, so the authorities will not initiate a criminal investigation into his death, his widow declared today, Yuliaciting a certificate from the Russian Instruction Committee.
«Death occurred due to… arrhythmia. And tell me, how did they find this arrhythmia during the autopsy? It is impossible to establish a heart rhythm disorder after death and Alexei did not have any heart disease when he was alive»wrote Yulia Navalnaya on her late husband’s website.
He explained that the results of the internal investigation by the authorities were sent to him six months after Alexei’s death.
“I showed this diagnosis to the doctors I know and they all came to the same conclusion (…) they wrote ‘arrhythmia’ so they could write something. Because people don’t just die like that,” Yulia wrote.
According to the widow of the opposition politician, the diagnosis offered by the authorities is “a mockery.”
“It’s another rather pathetic attempt to hide the fact that what happened was a murder,” he said.
He also complained that the Investigative Committee has still not handed over Navalny’s personal items, including a crucifix that he wore, to his family.
“There is only one explanation for that. Just one. They killed him and now they are trying to cover up the traces as much as possible.”he said.
Navalny, who survived an attempted poisoning with the chemical agent Novichok (originally created by the Soviet Union) in 2020, died in February in a maximum-security prison in Siberia where he had been held since late last year and where he was serving a 19-year sentence, motivated by his political activism, according to human rights defenders.
The widow of the opposition leader, who vowed to continue his fight, blames Navalny’s death squarely on the Russian president, Vladimir Putin.
On June 4, hundreds of Navalny’s supporters covered his grave with flowers in a Moscow cemetery as a tribute to the dissident, who would have turned 48 that day. EFE (I)
