Russia retaliated, new sanctions against the United States

The US Department of Justice has ordered the confiscation of two planes owned by Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich, saying they were used in violation of sanctions against Russia over its invasion of Ukraine, BGNES reported, citing AFP.

In court documents, the ministry said the two planes, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner and a Gulfstream G650ER, were launched into Russian territory earlier this year in violation of US export controls.

Russia, meanwhile, has responded by blacklisting 61 US citizens, including Finance Minister Janet Yellen and Energy Minister Jennifer Granholm. Russia’s foreign ministry said in a statement issued today.

“In response to growing US sanctions against Russian political and public figures, as well as local businesses, the list includes 61 Americans among the leaders of leading corporations, media platforms and rating agencies, airlines and shipbuilding companies, as well as individual US State Department officials involved in “malicious” Russian cyberattacks, the statement said.
