Russia has no intention of cooperating with the UN special rapporteur on human rights in Russia, Mariana Katsarova, as she will act according to Western guidelines to exert political pressure on Moscow. Gennady Gatilov, permanent representative of Russia at the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, said this today on the air of “Russia-24” TV, BTA writes.
He pointed out that Katsarova “is an active Russophobe and has always been so when she held other positions in the field of human rights”. “We cannot expect anything good for us from her, no objectivity, no correct assessment of the human rights situation in Russia. So for us, the situation here is quite clear,” added Gatilov, quoted by TASS.
According to him, the post was also created on the basis of an anti-Russian resolution in the UN Human Rights Council, which had nothing to do with human rights concerns.
