Russia recruits mercenaries for “mission to Donbass” / Article

For mercenaries not specifically explained, what will be the purpose of going to the territory of Ukraine alone indicates that “go to liberate New Russia”.

According to one source, the story started three months ago, but most of the media’s interlocutors have received offers in recent weeks.

The mercenaries are recruited for different groups, each with its own organizers, requirements for candidates and conditions.

One of the employees who gave up the “business trip” rated the current campaign as the most active since 2014.

In Moscow, recruiters are trying to hire 120 Russians with combat experience, ready to go to Donetsk for three months.

Two people who turned down the offer said that the purpose of the “business trip” had not been explained to them, but that the pay had been unusually high. One of the men said that he was offered about 240,000 rubles (2,870 euros) a month.

In addition to recruitment in Moscow, mercenaries are also recruited in Donbass.

According to two interlocutors, ex-prisoners are being actively invited. There is no specific explanation for them about the goals of recruitment.

Three sources confirm that the mercenaries are recruited by the Donbass Volunteer Union.

It is not known which bodies are represented by recruiters.

The Russian Ministry of Defense did not answer Medusa’s questions, but explained to the Russian Guard that “the requested information does not fall within the authority’s competence”.

None of the mercenaries polled by Medusa believe that Russia is ready to start a general war with Ukraine.

The United States and the West believe that Russia could prepare an attack on Ukraine and have therefore concentrated some 100,000 troops on the Ukrainian border.

Russia denies allegations of a possible invasion of Ukraine by its troops. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Moscow is taking a defensive stance because of fears that Kiev is getting too close to NATO.

At a video summit on December 7, US President Joe Biden warned Putin that the United States would impose unprecedented sanctions on Russia if it attacked Ukraine.
