Russian President Vladimir Putin reappointed Mikhail Mishustin as the country’s prime minister on Friday.
The move was seen as expected because the technocrat, who has kept a low political profile, has been credited with maintaining a relatively stable financial situation despite country-dangerous Western sanctions over the war in Ukraine.
Most other cabinet members are also expected to retain their posts.
Under Russian law, the 58-year-old Mishustin, who has held the post for the past four years, tendered the resignation of his cabinet on Tuesday as Putin began his fifth presidential term at a glittering inauguration in the Kremlin.
Mishustin, the former head of Russia’s tax service, avoided political statements and avoided media interviews during his previous tenure.
