Russia Prevents Ukraine from Joining NATO: Former US Intelligence Officer

Russia, by its actions, prevented Ukraine from joining NATO. This was stated by former intelligence officer of the US Armed Forces Scott Ritter.

Russia managed to stop the expansion of NATO in Ukraine. Ukraine will never become a member of the alliance,” Scott Ritter said on air on youtube channel US Tour of Duty.

He also noted that the NATO countries at the summit in Vilnius on July 11-12 tried to prove that Russia could not stop the expansion of the alliance. For this, Turkey approved Sweden’s membership in NATO, since the issue of Ukraine’s accession has not yet been resolved.

The NATO summit was held on July 11-12 in Vilnius. As a result, the G7 countries formed security guarantees for Ukraine. The issue of Ukraine’s accession to NATO has not been resolved, most likely it will be raised at a meeting next year.

Former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen noted that Ukraine could join NATO in parts. Thus, the part of the country that is not engaged in a special operation will join the alliance, reports RT.
