The tense situation between Ukraine and Russia is being watched with concern by the Polish Football Association. Zbigniew Boniek, former president of the Polish Football Association and now UEFA vice-president, also spoke about the whole situation. The 65-year-old surprised everyone and wrote on Twitter that “there is no safer place for Poland to play a match than Moscow”. “Let’s focus on the sporting aspect, because that’s the only thing we can influence,” he added.
This is not the first time that Boniek has spoken in a similar vein about the upcoming Polish-Reds match. Earlier, in an interview with Interia, he stated that “the players of the Polish national team in Moscow will not be in danger, and only a possible fear for the health and life of the players could be a reason for moving the meeting to another location“.
