Russia is preparing to send more Chechen fighters and prisoners to Ukraine to compensate for the departure of Wagner PMC mercenaries from the front after their failed rebellion in Russia.
About it informs Bloomberg, citing European intelligence data.
Russia moved large numbers of troops to Bakhmut after the Wagner PMC announced it was withdrawing from the city in late May, officials said, leaving a troop shortage in occupied areas of southern Ukraine. However, according to them, the departure of the “Wagnerites” from the battlefield will not significantly change the course of the war in Ukraine.
“Putin’s determination to avoid a full military mobilization means Russia is likely to send even more Chechens and prisoners to the front lines in the coming weeks.” – the message says.
Now the Russian army has about 15 thousand fighters from among the prisoners. In turn, Chechnya cannot give much reinforcement, since 7 thousand of its fighters are already fighting in Ukraine, only 2.4 thousand are still undergoing training. In addition, the Kadyrovites do not demonstrate noticeable effectiveness in combat.
