Russia Plans to Attack Donbas, Ukrainian Troops Prepare Surprise

Donbas

Troops Russia reportedly planning to invade the Donbas region to take over eastern Ukraine. Troops Ukraine did not remain silent on the Russian attack plan.

As reported by AFP, Wednesday (6/4/2022), Ukrainian troops are also preparing to anticipate Russian attacks in the Donbas region. Ukrainian troops know Russian troops are strengthening themselves to attack the Donbas.

“We know Russia is strengthening and preparing to attack,” a senior Ukrainian officer on the ground told AFP, echoing another source warning of a Russian attack in Donbas that could start at any time.

Donbas lies on the road between the Ukrainian-held cities of Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, and Izyum, in the northwest, which was recently captured by the Russian army. On Tuesday (5/4) yesterday, AFP reporters in Krasnopillia heard artillery explosions but not automatic gunfire signaling ground fighting.

Meanwhile, officer Ukraine said Russian helicopter flights had also increased in the area. It was a sign of a large-scale operation that Ukraine would carry out.

“We are ready, we have planned some surprises for them along the way,” the officer said.

Then a Ukrainian team with the rank of lieutenant also admitted to waiting for the presence of Russian troops in the Donbas.

“We are waiting for them!” said one lieutenant, giving a thumbs up.

Artillery and armored vehicles were dug up along the side of the route. The nearby scattered forest was also fortified along with a number of camouflage equipment.

Since Russia announced its intention to focus on the “liberation” of the Donbas, residents of the traditional mining region in eastern Ukraine have lived in fear of attack.

Ukrainian troops have been deployed in the region since 2014 along the front line stretching between Donetsk in the south and Lugansk in the east, the capital of two pro-Russian breakaway “republics” of the same name.
