Russia Outsources Troops to North Korea and Plans Offensive in Ukraine, US Announces Support

Around midnight, explosions were heard in and around the capital city of Kyiv, most likely related to the operation of anti-aircraft defense systems. There is no information yet on the consequences of the attacks. This was the sixth missile or drone attack on Kyiv this month.

On the other hand, it was possible to shoot down two drones launched by the enemy over the Sumu region. Two more drones were shot down over the Poltava region. Debris of the drone fell on a residential building, but no one was hurt. Two Russian drones were also shot down over the Dnipropetrovsk region.

These attacks confirm Russia’s efforts to increase missile and drone terror in Ukraine as winter approaches. The most effective way to fight against them is with modern anti-aircraft defense systems. Ukraine has received such systems from allies over the past year, but their number is still insufficient to protect most of the country’s territory.

The US is ready to mobilize other countries to support Ukraine

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has called on Congress to approve additional military aid to Ukraine as soon as possible. He pointed out that this is extremely important for the national security of the United States.

Blinken also said that the United States will continue to mobilize countries around the world to support the freedom and independence of Ukraine and to ensure that Russia does not succeed in its own unprovoked war.

The US Secretary of State stated that the Russian leader Vladimir Putin has still not managed to achieve his main goal in Ukraine – to wipe it off the map and include it in Russia. Blinken added that Russia is weaker militarily, economically and diplomatically. NATO, on the other hand, is bigger, stronger and more united than ever in its almost 75-year history.

On the other hand, the Secretary of the National Security Council of the White House, John Kirby, once again confirmed that by the end of the year, the United States will be able to announce one package of military aid to Ukraine, which will be the last for the time being, because the funds allocated for this purpose will simply run out.

But Kirby assured that the US will continue to support Ukraine. That is why the administration of US President Joe Biden is working to convince Congress to support the allocation of more than 60 billion dollars for further assistance to Ukraine. Kirby predicted the aid could be approved early next year, after lawmakers return from the holiday break.

Kirby added that there can be no delay in solving this issue, because everything indicates that Russia could launch an offensive in eastern Ukraine in January or February, so the Ukrainians urgently need additional weapons.

Kyiv: Russia is using North Korean ammunition on a massive scale in Ukraine

Ukraine, citing US officials, reports that North Korea has delivered more than 1,000 containers of ammunition to Russia. This allows Moscow to continue active offensive operations in Ukraine. The news about North Korea’s supply of ammunition to Russia is not new, as several high-ranking officials, including representatives of the defense department, had visited Pyongyang. However, their extent was not clear until now.

The Ukrainian news agency “Unian” refers to the US ambassador to NATO, Juliana Smith, who informed on Wednesday that this Asian country recently supplied Russia with additional weapons for use in the war against Ukraine. More than 1,000 containers with military equipment and ammunition were transported by ships, and their movement was recorded by satellites. The diplomat added that Pyongyang most likely wants to receive other military technologies from Russia in exchange, including surface-to-air missiles, armored vehicles, as well as equipment for the production of ballistic missiles.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian military informs that this ammunition is of relatively poor quality, and there are reports of its explosion before firing. However, the sheer volume allows Russia to provide heavy fire support to the attacking infantry and inflict losses on the Ukrainian defenders.

CONTEXT:

Russia’s unjustified and unprovoked large-scale invasion of Ukraine began on February 24, 2022, the Kremlin’s propaganda brazenly promised to capture Kyiv in three days, but the selfless and strong resistance of the Ukrainians prevented the Kremlin from realizing its plans.

After the setbacks, the Kremlin withdrew the army from the Kyiv region, but continued the offensive in other regions. In the fall of 2022, the Ukrainian army managed to liberate Kharkiv region and part of Kherson region in successful operations, raising hopes for the possibility of defeating the enemy.

However, the Ukrainian counteroffensive launched in the summer of 2023 was not so successful, which the Ukrainian army explains both by the insufficient supply of weapons from the Western allies and by the deep defense line and extensive minefields created by the Russian army. Now there are reports that a war of positions has begun at the front with exhausting battles and preparations must be made for long-term support for Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Russia regularly attacks civilian objects and is expected to target energy infrastructure like last winter.
