All the soloists were being of extraordinary caliber: Hanna Kastner in the part of Anastasia, Lukas Sandmann in the role of her proletarian lover Dimitri, Karsten Kenzel in the purpose of the lively Wlad, Daniela Dett in the job of the Tsar’s sovereign mom, Nikolaj Alexander Brucker in the job of the policeman purple secret. They were absolutely guaranteed of their lyrics, did not gasp even following frenzied dance interludes, and prevented extremely forced arias and poses, which can conveniently creep in when imitating nobility. Vocally, very little was remaining to be wanted, though the sound from the speakers sounded a tiny reverberating right here and there.
With no the turbulent choreography concerning Swan Lake, Charleston and Kasatschok, the night may possibly have been far too kitschy, so it received the important pace, a nice exuberance, even nonchalance.
The conductor Tom Bitterlich was not to be envied: he led the orchestra from the electric powered piano and experienced to flip the webpages nearly each next, soon after all he played from the orchestral area. He was physically exhausting, but the “Newa Club Band” performed cheerfully and devoid of sentimentality, which is not so uncomplicated with the melancholy “Anastasia”. All in all, the tale felt extra calm than the new music actually suggested, but also far more authentic.
