Joe Biden said that all participants in the council meeting supported the admission of Kyiv into the alliance
The Ukraine-NATO Council will cease to exist because one of the countries in it will disappear, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev wrote in English on Twitter, as quoted by TASS.
Medvedev recalled that the Russia-NATO council was established in 2002 and “everyone knows how it ended.”
“This time it will end differently. The Council will cease to exist because one of its parties will disappear,” he wrote.
Medvedev notes that “now the alliance and our country are on the brink (or rather beyond the brink) of war.”
During the NATO summit in Vilnius, a Ukraine-NATO council was established, in which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky took part. According to the secretary general of the alliance, Jens Stoltenberg, the creation of the council has enabled a significant rapprochement of Kyiv with NATO.
US President Joe Biden said that all participants in the council meeting supported the admission of Kyiv into the alliance. TASS quoted the communiqué from the summit meeting that an invitation to join NATO could be extended to Ukraine “when the allies reach an agreement and when the conditions (from Kiev sent by the West – note ed.) are met”.
