Russia maintains its trend with 8,817 COVID-19 cases and 357 deaths in 24 hours

MADRID, 4 Apr. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Russia, which accumulates more than 4.5 million cases of COVID-19 and more than 100,000 deaths, maintains a relatively stable trend in its fight against the pandemic that has led it this Sunday to confirm 8,817 new positives and 357 fatalities.

The country registered its worst data at the end of December – it approached 30,000 cases in 24 hours – but it has apparently contained the curve to fall below 10,000 in recent weeks.

The national center that coordinates the fight against the virus has confirmed this Sunday 1,901 new cases and 56 deaths in the city of Moscow alone, to which another 598 positives would be added in the homonymous region. The second largest city in the country, Saint Petersburg, has updated its particular balance with 711 cases and 28 fatalities, according to the Sputnik news agency.

Russia has several vaccines to combat the coronavirus, used not only domestically but also for export. One of the countries that has received Sputnik V is Argentina, whose president, Alberto Fernández, has confirmed to have been infected with coronavirus after being vaccinated.

The Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, responsible for the development of the vaccine, has alleged that having completed the immunization schedule does not completely rule out contagion, although serious damage does. The Argentine president suffers mild symptoms.
