Russia launches the largest marching attack on Kiev since the beginning of the war

Ukrainian military officials said that Russia launched, on Saturday morning, the most violent attack with marches on the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, since the beginning of its special military operations in Ukraine in the year 2022.

“Kiev was the main target,” Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk wrote on his Telegram channel.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces explained that Russia launched a total of about 75 unmanned aerial vehicles against Ukraine, noting that the air defense destroyed 74 of them.

Serhiy Popko, head of the Kiev city administration, said that the attack was “the largest drone air attack on Kiev,” noting that the air defense shot down more than 66 air targets over the capital throughout the morning.

At least 5 civilians were injured in an hours-long marching attack on Kiev, which resulted in many buildings being damaged, according to Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

The attack on Kiev began at 4 a.m. local time, continued in waves for more than 6 hours, and caused a power outage in 77 residential buildings and 120 institutions, according to Bobko.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Energy said that electricity was cut off for 17,000 people in the Kiev region as a result of the attack, noting that 4 power lines were damaged.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on Telegram: “Our soldiers shot down most of the drones. Unfortunately, not all… but we continue to work to strengthen our air defenses and shoot down more.”

In addition to Kiev, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhya, Mykolaiv and Kirovohrad regions were also targeted.
