Russia launched a new round of attacks on Ukraine on New Year’s Eve in retaliation for Ukraine’s air strikes the day before, which killed at least 24 people in the border city of Belgorod.

Ukrainian officials said that the Russian army used missiles and drones to launch a new round of bombings against Ukraine on New Year’s Eve. At least six missiles hit the second largest city of Kharkiv. Houses and kindergartens were hit, and at least 28 people were injured.

The Ukrainian Air Force stated that Russia dispatched 49 drones to areas such as Kharkiv, Kherson, Nikolaev and Zaporozhye at night, and 21 of them were shot down.

The Russian Defense Ministry said it used drones to strike decision-making centers and military facilities in Kharkiv over the past night.
