Russia has begun naval maneuvers in the Black Sea
Moscow, Feb. 12, LETA – REUTERS. According to RIA Novosti, the maneuvers of the Russian navy, which involves more than 30 ships of the Black Sea Fleet, have started on the coast of the annexed Crimea.
The agency reports that more than 30 warships have left the ports of Sevastopol and Novorossiysk “according to the training plans”.
RIA Novosti states that the purpose of the training is to polish the protection of the Crimean coast.
Russia announced last month that a series of large-scale maneuvers would take place in February and March, involving all its fleets, from the Pacific to the Atlantic.
Russia has now concentrated more than 100,000 troops on Ukraine’s borders, raising fears of a new invasion of a neighboring country.
