Ukraine’s Poltava region governor Dmytro Lunin said on Saturday that Russia had fired missiles and attack drones into the region in central Ukraine overnight, causing “some damage to infrastructure and equipment” at the Mirhorod military airport.
He added on Telegram that the attack, in which ballistic and cruise missiles were used, also damaged eight homes and several vehicles. There were no reports of injuries.
In the same context, the Ukrainian army said that 3 civilians were killed in an attack by Russian drones on the Black Sea city of Odessa in the early hours of Saturday morning, after the fall of the wreckage of a drone on an apartment building led to a fire.
Natalya Homenyuk, spokeswoman for the Southern Command of the Ukrainian army, said that the air defenses in the Odessa region shot down 8 drones and two missiles during the Russian attack.
This attack is the latest in a wave of night air strikes targeting Ukrainian cities in recent weeks.
“As a result of the shooting down operations, the wreckage of one of the drones fell on an apartment at a great height, causing a fire,” the military official said in a statement.
Emergency services said 27 people, including children, were injured, but the fire was quickly put out and 12 people were rescued from the building.
