The interceptions took place over Kharkiv and Sumy oblasts (northeast), Donetsk (east), Cherkasy, Kirovograd, Polatva and Dnipropetrovsk (centre), kyiv (north) and Kherson (south), according to the report.
In the early hours of Monday, Kremlin forces fired a total of 109 Shahed drones at several regions of Ukraine, of which 99 were shot down by the Ukrainian Air Force. Russia launched 127 missiles simultaneously that night, damaging numerous Ukrainian electrical infrastructures.
Russia attacked Ukraine again on Tuesday with 81 shaheds, of which 60 were intercepted by Ukrainian anti-aircraft defences.
Shahed kamikaze drones are a relatively cheap technology capable of hitting targets at long range that Russia acquires from its Iranian partners. The Ukrainian prosecutor’s office announced on Wednesday that it is investigating a general of the Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard for their responsibility in the transfer of these drones to Russia.
