Russia on Saturday imposed a sweeping security regime in three regions bordering Ukraine as Moscow deploys forces to counter kyiv’s biggest attack on Russian territory since the start of the Russian special operation in 2022.

The Russian military has quickly sent in additional troops and equipment, including convoys of tanks, rocket launchers and aircraft units, although neither side has given precise details about the scope of the forces they have committed.

At least 3,000 civilians have been evacuated from border areas with Russia, where emergency aid and medical supplies have been flown, while additional trains have been put into service to the capital Moscow for people wishing to flee.

Russian air and missile forces have launched an attack on Ukrainian reserves in the Sumy region, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

According to the report, the attack targeted Ukrainian personnel and equipment in the districts of Nikolayevo-Daryino, Guevo, Lyubimovka, Zeleny Shlyakh and Sverdlikovo in the Sumy region.
