Russian forces have carried out a major drone attack against fifteen Ukrainian regions this evening, causing damage to commercial and residential buildings, Reuters reported, citing information today from local authorities, BTA said.
So far, there are no reports of casualties, the group clarifies. Ukraine’s air force said it shot down 78 of the 105 drones targeting Ukrainian territory, and 23 drones are believed to have come within range of electronic jamming.
Authorities in the capital of Ukraine, Kiev, said that the air force took about 15 drones over the city and its surroundings during the air alert that lasted more than five hours. The head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Serhii Popko, wrote in the Telegram application that debris from drones fell in Desnyansky district, but did not cause fires.
On the other hand, fires broke out after the night attacks in three districts of the Kyiv region. Local authorities reported that they had already been evacuated. An attack on the southern region of Odesa tonight damaged power transmission networks, regional governor Oleg Kiper announced. The electricity supply has been restored to more than three thousand users, although two thousand people are still without electricity in one of the areas, said Kiper.
Dozens of Russian drones were directed against the Poltava region, in central Ukraine, damaging six commercial buildings and breaking the windows of a residential building and a kindergarten, the head of the Poltava regional military administration, Philip Pronin, said in the Telegram. In a similar attack against the Kirovgrad region, which is also in the center of Ukraine, the windows of a residential house were broken and garages were damaged in the neighborhood, which informed the regional governor Andriy Rajkovich. The Ukrainian Air Force shot down 16 drones in the Cherkassy region, and debris from them ignited a forest fire, which was quickly extinguished, local authorities announced.
