Russia has started issuing visas to residents of Middle Eastern countries en masse in order to facilitate their illegal entry into the countries of the European Union (EU), the German newspaper “Bild” reported.

Journalists have received a report by the German police on the increase in the number of illegal migrants in the EU. In the month of March alone, 22.5 thousand illegal migrants were stopped at the external borders of the EU, which is 60% more than in March last year.
The newspaper noted that illegal migrants from the Middle East usually try to reach the EU through Turkey and Greece, but a large number of them stay in Turkey. There are currently about four million such migrants in Turkey.
“Recently, many of them issue a Russian visa, travel with it through Russia to Belarus, illegally cross the EU border there and arrive in Germany via Poland and the Czech Republic,” Bild reported.

The police report cited by journalists indicates that the new route is being actively promoted on social networks. In addition, special planes carrying migrants fly from Turkey to Russia and Belarus.
