MOSCOW, KOMPAS.TV – The Russian Ministry of Defense on Friday (22/4/2022) said it was ready to carry out a humanitarian ceasefire at the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol, Ukraine. But the ceasefire was accompanied by a note, the Kiev army surrendered.
The Azovstal steelworks became the last stronghold of the Ukrainian army in the country’s strategic port city.
On Thursday (21/4), Russia said it had complete control over the strategic city in eastern Ukraine, except for the vast industrial area of Azovstal.
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a blockade of the factory, where hundreds of civilians are reportedly sheltering with Ukrainian soldiers.
“We once again state that Russia is ready at any time to stop (the war) and declare a humanitarian ceasefire to evacuate civilians,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement. The Moscow TimesFriday (22/4).

The ceasefire, said the Russian Ministry of Defense, will begin with the raising of white flags by Ukrainian troops along the perimeter or in certain Azovstal areas.
“If such signs are found in any part of the Azovstal metal plant, the Russian Armed Forces will immediately stop the war and provide a safe way out,” the Russian Defense Ministry added.
The civilians will be escorted to territory controlled by Ukraine or Russia, depending on the citizens’ choice.
