The prosecutor at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, who issued the arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin, was on Friday wanted by Russia’s Interior Ministry, Russian media reported.
British man Karim Khan, 53, is wanted for a felony, according to the warrant for his arrest.
On March 17, the International Criminal Court in The Hague issued an arrest warrant for Putin and his children’s rights representative, Maria Lvova-Belova, on charges of illegal deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia.
Already on March 20, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case against Khan and three other officials of the court in The Hague, considering their actions illegal, as they have no grounds to hold Putin and the children’s ombudsman Lvova-Belova accountable. According to Russia, in accordance with the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of Crimes Against Persons Enjoying International Protection, since December 14, 1973, heads of state enjoy absolute immunity from the jurisdiction of foreign countries.
Now Moscow also issues the warrant for the arrest of the prosecutor from the court in The Hague.
