The Russian literature stand was officially opened on Wednesday to mark the start of the Vienna International Book Fair (Buch Wien). Russia is honored to be the first guest of honor in the history of this great Austrian book fair, which is part of the year of literature and theater of the two countries.
The Russian exhibition as part of the exhibition program “Russia at Buch Wien. Traditions and Modernity ”offers the opportunity to get acquainted with the latest works of Russian literature and translations into German, to participate in discussions with writers and literary experts. The exhibition features editions of Russian classics and modern authors, children’s books, books on Russian history, geography and culture.
As Russian Ambassador to Austria Dmitri Liubinski said: “Russia is the first country to have received an invitation to such a prestigious Viennese Book Forum with guest of honor status. At the same time, it becomes an event of this magnitude within the framework of the Russo-Austrian Year of Literature and Theater ”.
