“Restrictions will be placed on the EU’s top leadership, including a number of European commissioners and heads of EU military structures, as well as most members of the European Parliament who are pursuing anti-Russian policies,” the ministry said.
Other people subject to sanctions include “high-ranking officials, public figures and media workers responsible for driving illegal sanctions against Russia, inciting Russophobic sentiment and violating the rights and freedoms of Russian-speakers,” the statement said.
The EU Delegation in Moscow has been informed.
“Any hostile sanctions” from the EU or its member states will provoke a “sharp response”, the ministry said.
