“On Friday evening, a Russian An-30 propeller-driven aircraft violated Swedish airspace,” the Swedish Defense Ministry said in a statement.
It is noted that the Russian aircraft was followed by the country’s air defense forces and photographed it. The flight was tracked east of Bernholm, a Danish island in the Baltic Sea, before heading towards Swedish airspace.
Swedish Defense Minister Peter Hultkvist called the violation of the country’s airspace by a Russian aircraft unacceptable. He called the incident inappropriate in light of the security situation.
“Swedish sovereignty must always be respected,” the Defense Minister concluded.
