MOSCOW, KOMPAS.com – Kremlin on Sunday (11/4/2021) emphasized that his party would not move towards war with Ukraine.
The Kremlin delivers on the matter though Russia increase its military presence on the border with Ukraine’s eastern flank.
In recent weeks the conflict has escalated between the Ukrainian army and pro-Russian separatists who hold two regions in the east of the country.

As a result, there are fears of a major escalation in the long-running conflict.
“Of course, nobody is planning to go to war, and in general nobody accepts the possibility of such a war,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in a quoted television interview. AFP, Sunday (11/4/2021).
President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman added that no one also accepted the possibility of civil war in Ukraine.
Peskov insisted Moscow was not involved in the conflict, but Russia would not be indifferent to the plight of its speakers living in conflict areas.

“Russia is making every effort to help resolve this conflict. And we will continue to explain it tirelessly,” continued Peskov.
Ukraine accuses Russia of rounding up thousands of military personnel on its northern and eastern borders, as well as on the peninsula Crimea which is annexed.
The Kremlin did not object to the force’s move, but insisted Moscow had no intention of threatening anyone.
The White House this week said the number of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine is now more than at any time since 2014, when conflict broke out following Russia’s annexation of Crimea from Ukraine.
Fighting died down in 2020 when a ceasefire agreement was agreed last July.
Even so, clashes have resumed since the beginning of this year and each side blames each other.

On Thursday (8/4/2021) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the eastern front, and spoke with soldiers in the trenches.
According to the president, 26 Ukrainian soldiers have died since January 2021, compared to 50 in 2020.
Since 2014 the conflict in eastern Ukraine has claimed more than 13,000 lives and displaced many.
Negotiations for a peace deal are still at a standstill.
