Russia imposed strict rules on flights from Egypt due to an “unknown disease”. The disease, which appears in the form of “high fever, headache and stomach pain,” negatively affects Egyptian tourism.
According to what was translated by “Turkey Urgent”, quoting Turkish media, the Russian Health Authority Rospotrebnadzor announced that security protocols for flights from Egypt had been tightened after an unknown disease was discovered.
In the statement carried by the Russian state news agency TASS, it was noted that additional controls, including quarantine, would be applied to passengers arriving from Egypt.
The statement also included information stating that the symptoms of the disease are similar to those of “dengue fever.” The Russian authorities contacted the Egyptian authorities and requested information in order to determine the type of disease and take the necessary measures.
Egypt is the second most popular holiday destination for Russian tourists after Türkiye. Dengue is transmitted by the bite of a certain type of mosquito. The disease is not transmitted from person to person, but only transmitted by mosquitoes.
