Moscow against the backdrop of the spread of the new type of coronavirus 2019-nCoV decided to temporarily suspend visa-free travel for the Chinese to Russia and Russians to China. Relevant Government Order of January 31, 2020 published on the website of the cabinet.
This measure will take effect on February 2, the deadlines are not given. In addition, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was also instructed to temporarily suspend the acceptance of documents, registration and issuance of work visas to Chinese citizens.
According to the document, Chinese citizens will not be able to enter Russia for the purpose of laboring by invitation, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs also temporarily stops accepting documents necessary for issuing a work permit.
Earlier January 30, Russia is already temporarily canceled issuing electronic visas to citizens of China. On such visas, they cannot enter Russia through border crossing points located on the territory of the Far East, the Kaliningrad Region, St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.
In February 2000, the governments of both countries signed bilateral agreement on visa-free group tourist trips. Under this document, organized tourist groups of at least five and not more than 50 citizens of China or Russia can visit countries without a visa. The visa-free stay of such groups of citizens in China and Russia should not exceed 15 days.
