Russian President Vladimir Putin “thought he could quickly defeat Ukraine, break the NATO alliance and act with impunity. He was wrong,” Milli said.
“Ukraine remains free, they remain independent. NATO and this coalition have never been stronger, and Russia is now exiled on the global stage. And the world remains inspired by the courage and resilience of Ukrainians. In short, Russia has lost – it has lost strategically, operationally and tactically, and on the battlefield they pay a huge price,” the general said.
Milley and US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin are in Brussels for the ninth meeting of the Ukrainian Defense Contact Group to discuss support for Ukraine.
Miliy said the international community will continue to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia as long as Putin does not end the war he chose to start.
