Russia has responded sharply to the words of the NATO chief

Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov commented the words of the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on relations with Russia, informs “Novosti”.

In particular, Stoltenberg spoke of the alliance’s readiness for contacts with Moscow, noting that NATO is aware of the complexity of these relations and will continue to strive to improve them.

“The NATO Secretary General speaks of readiness for dialogue with Russia and a fervent desire to improve relations. If the alliance did not wage a verbal war against Russia for this very reason, it cut off all contacts and buried the Russia-NATO Council. We have been listening to these speeches for many years. There is nothing behind them“, Pushkov wrote on his Twitter account.

In the beginning of October The North Atlantic Alliance revoked the accreditation of eight staff of the Russian Permanent Representation, reducing the total number of permitted to ten people. In response, Moscow announced the suspension of the military mission to liaise with NATO from November 1st and the closure of the information bureau. Russia’s permanent mission to the alliance will also not work. For contacts with Moscow, NATO must now contact the Russian ambassador to Belgium.
