Russia handed over to Iran weapons seized on the battlefield in Ukraine – WSJ

According to journalists, Tehran is trying to study and reconstruct the transferred weapons.

Russia handed over weapons to Iran, which it seized on the battlefield in Ukraine. Tehran is trying to study and reconstruct it. About it informs The American edition of The Wall Street Journal, citing sources.

According to journalists, Iran is working with Russia to develop a new model of Shahed-136 attack drones. As expected, it will be equipped with an engine that will allow the UAV to fly faster and farther.

Moscow and Tehran are considering building a joint production line for drones in Russia. The talks between the two states developed into concrete plans with a visit on January 5 to the Russian city of Yelabuga. Iranian officials visited an empty site where they plan to build a new factory that could produce at least 6,000 drones in the coming years, White House sources said.

The publication said that the drone factory is part of a $1 billion deal between Russia and Moscow.

It is planned that the new enterprise will produce advanced drones. This could create new problems for Ukraine and other countries that could become targets for drones. However, the land for the construction of the plant has not yet been laid, so the production is not expected to have an immediate impact on the balance of power at the front in Ukraine.

Recall, on January 27, analysts calculated that the Russian Federation had 66 units of Shahed-136 drones left. This amount is enough for a few more large-scale strikes, but then they will end, unless Russia receives a new batch from Iran.

On January 25, the Air Force said that the Ukrainian military had adapted and learned to deal with enemy drones. The Armed Forces of Ukraine use all available types of weapons and electronic warfare to prevent drones from reaching their targets.
