Russia grants 150 scholarships for Bulgarians in over 1000 universities –

150 Bulgarian students will be able to receive a free education in over 1,000 Russian state and private higher education institutions during the 2015-2016 academic year, it became clear at a press conference at the Russian Cultural and Information Center in Sofia yesterday. Scholarships are awarded for educational and qualification degrees: bachelor’s, master’s, postgraduate, doctoral, internship and additional professional education (qualification improvement). In addition to free education, Bulgarians receive medical insurance, financial support, equal rights to a dormitory with all other Russian students, and from this year they will also have the opportunity to work. The program is of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and is implemented through the federal agency of Rossotrudnichestvo. Bulgarians will be able to choose from over 200 majors, including some of the most sought after such as economics, psychology, management, finance and informatics, said the director of the Russian Cultural and Information Center (RKIC) Viktor Bazhenov. He noted that starting this year, prospective students will be able to enroll in some completely new majors such as nanotechnology and biotechnology.

The director of RKIC recalled that in 2014 127 Bulgarians have entered Russian universities. Traditionally, the most preferred cities for continuing education remain Moscow and St. Petersburg, but he did not fail to note that other Russian universities also have a high rating.
