Moscow has no illusions that the first face-to-face meeting between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and US President Joe Biden since Biden came to power could bring a “breakthrough” in relations between the two countries, and does not expect any historic decisions from the summit. This opinion was expressed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
He said that during the June summit in Geneva, the presidents of the United States and Russia should exchange views on the threats they considered to exist for each country, as well as “on the global stage in general”.
Baidena and Putina The meeting is scheduled for June 16 in Geneva, Switzerland, however, as previously announced by the Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov, the signing of any documents at the end of this summit is not planned.
US-Russia relations are currently the worst since the Cold War, as US President Biden has not hidden his dislike of Russian leader Putin since he came to power. described as a “murderer without a soul”.
At present, the relationship between the two great powers is at a low point, even at a dead end, because the United States is waiting for the fall of Putin ‘s regime, but the Kremlin thinks that it will survive the reign of 78 – year – old Biden. Russia also recently included the United States in its list of unfriendly countries, which currently has only two countries: the United States and the Czech Republic.
