Moscow –
Government Russia said its troops managed to destroy at least four military ships Ukraine who sailed on the sea Black Sea. The military ships destroyed by Moscow were said to be transporting up to 50 Ukrainian soldiers.
As reported AFPWednesday (30/8/2023), the report on the destruction of Ukrainian military ships was submitted on the same day as reports of a series of Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian territory, starting from the southern Crimea region to the area near the Estonian border.
Both Russia and Ukraine have stepped up activity around the Black Sea, following the failure of a United Nations (UN) mediated agreement to ensure the safe navigation of grain-carrying ships.
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced in a Telegram statement that its military aircraft had “destroyed four high-speed military vessels” around midnight Moscow time.
The Russian Defense Ministry said the destroyed ships were carrying “a landing group of Ukrainian special operations forces with a total of up to 50 people”.
It did not mention in more detail about the location where the incident occurred in the Black Sea.
In the early hours of Wednesday (30/8), the Kremlin-appointed Governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhayev, as quoted by news agencies TASSsaid Russia’s air defenses had repelled a “sea drone attack” near Sevastopol Bay in Crimea, which Moscow annexed from Ukraine in 2014.
