The CIA boss assignment report was published CIA on Friday (5/11/2021) night citing several sources familiar with the matter.
According to the report, the Joe Biden administration had sent Burns to Moscow as American officials grew increasingly concerned about the number of Russian military and artillery service members being moved to Ukraine’s northern border.

Burns, the report continued, will emphasize the Biden administration’s stance that the US is closely monitoring Russian troop movements.
Cited sources CNN further suggesting that Burns’ appearances and meetings with Russian officials were meant to demonstrate general Russian motives in the region.
One expressed America’s belief that Russia was preparing for an invasion, while another believed that what Moscow was doing was merely a military exercise or simply trying to intimidate Ukraine.
Moscow has rejected any suggestion that its military operations are meant to be perceived as a threat. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov previously stated that Russia was not threatening. “And pose no danger to anyone,” he said.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called Western media reports about Moscow’s troop deployment inconsistent with reality.
