Russia demanded to change the format of negotiations

The deputy head of the Kremlin administration Dmitry Kozak sent letters to representatives of France, Germany and Ukraine with a document on negotiations in the “Normandy format”.

As reported TASS, citing a source in the Russian delegation, the official suggested that the Normandy Four members change the principle of organizing its meetings.

It is noted that Kozak proposed to the Normandy Four to fix Ukraine’s obligation to give a written position on the implementation of Minsk-2.

Edition RIA Novosti added that the letter reflected the draft Joint Outcomes of the videoconference of political advisers and representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the “Normandy format”.

“Taking into account the equality of all participants in the Normandy format, it would be advisable to use the principle of rotation of chairmen, which is widely used in international diplomatic practice, in organizing negotiations so that this function is performed alternately by each of the four participants,” the document says.

Recall, March 18 an online meeting of political advisers took place leaders of the Normandy Four states regarding the war in Donbass, in which the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak took part.

As reported OBOZREVATEL, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that already soon it will be possible to talk about the exact dates of the meeting in the “Normandy format”.

Earlier, the head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group on Donbass Leonid Kravchuk said that US participation in the Normandy format should strengthen the negotiations, because Russia will reckon with such a strong side as the United States.

He also noted that the summit in the “Normandy format” to resolve the situation in Donbass plan to hold in April.
