Russia Considers Temporary Fuel Export Ban: Ministry of Energy Responds to Domestic Market Concerns

The authorities claim that there will be enough fuel for the domestic market.

Russia may introduce a temporary ban on fuel exports to foreign countries, citing information from Gazeta.ru, according to the auto news publication Motor.ru.

The relevant proposal is currently being considered by the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation (ME). At the same time, representatives of the department report that specialists pay special attention to the delivery of oil products on certain domestic routes. The press service of the Ministry of Energy has revealed that the Russian government is considering proposals for long-term measures related to export restrictions, tax burdens and the priority of oil cargo movement.

The department, together with Russian railway specialists, has taken over control of fuel supplies in the southern and eastern directions. The EM has emphasized that, despite the price increase, a shortage of petroleum products is not expected in the domestic market, but the accumulated diesel fuel reserves of almost three million tons are sufficient to meet the needs of the internal market.

At the end of August, the price of AI-95 gasoline in Russia reached another historical peak, with the fuel price rising to 72,821 rubles (almost 700 euros) per ton.
