Russia Confronts Ukrainian Incursion on Southern Front, Kiev Forces Attempted to Penetrate Russian Fortifications

Moscow announced that it had confronted a Ukrainian incursion on the southern front, especially around the Zaporozhye axis, and the Russian Defense Minister, Sergey Shoigu, said that the Kiev forces tried to penetrate the Russian fortifications in that area.

Shoigu added: “The enemy was discovered, and a preemptive strike was carried out by artillery, aviation and anti-tank weapons.”

The Ukrainian attempt coincided with the bombing of the Russian interior, which observers considered the beginning of Kiev’s counterattack.

Attempted incursion after the collapse of the dam

The Ukrainian attempt to infiltrate the southern axis and around Zaporizhia, with the participation of about 1,500 people and 150 armored vehicles, and the battle lasted for two hours, during which Kiev lost 30 tanks and 350 soldiers, according to the Russian Defense Minister.

Oleg Artyovsk, a researcher on international affairs at the Volsk military institution, considered that the Ukrainian counterattack, which has been marketed over the past months, actually began about a week ago, despite Kiev’s continuous denials.

“The attempt to incursion from the southern front during the past hours is conclusive evidence of Kiev’s involvement in the Kakhovka Dam bombing, through which Ukraine is trying to isolate Russian forces across the banks of the Dnipro River,” Artyovsk said in a statement to Sky News Arabia.

The researcher in international affairs expected the Ukrainian attempts to intensify in the coming days around the Zaporizhia axis, especially the area surrounding the nuclear plant, in order to ignite the situation more and more and accuse Moscow of endangering the nuclear plant.

As for targeting the Russian depth, Artyovsk indicated that Kiev implemented this plan, “with the beginning of its counterattack, by bombing the Russian depth with marches and border cities. During the past hours, Belgorod province was also subjected to Ukrainian shelling with more than 500 shells.”

drain plan

Matyushin Victor, a specialist in resolving international conflicts at the Ukrainian University of Tavrisky, explained that his country is implementing a strategic plan that depends on depleting Russian forces before the actual start of the counterattack, which needs more military aid, stressing that the current stage is a stage of preparation for the battle, which is decisive.

Victor explained, during his statements to “Sky News Arabia”, that attempts to penetrate the Russian depth all succeeded during the last period, and this prompted Moscow to hysterically bomb the capital, Kiev, referring to the success of the Ukrainian moves for several reasons:

Russia has been directly involved in a long-term war.
• Increased differences between military leaders and Wagner groups.
• A heavy loss paid by Moscow to control the Bakhmut axis.
• Continued Western support for Kiev, which is evidence of Ukraine’s progress in the field and its ability to do more.

Recently, Ukrainian forces intensified their artillery and missile strikes against the border areas in Belgorod, while Ukrainian armed groups attempted to storm a number of areas.

An attack never came to fruition

Regarding the actual start of the Ukrainian counterattack, Artyovsk said that despite the Ukrainian attempts, there is no actual effect on the ground.

And Artyovsk continued, saying: “All the counter-attacks launched by Kiev failed during the past weeks, which made it think about the strategy of targeting depth to make what is called a media show, and this is completely opposite to reality.”

He referred to the incident of the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, saying: “The bombing of the dam is part of the counter-attack plan, given Kiev’s inability to confront in the field.”
