Russia expressed this as an official comment on the statement of the 5 countries.
The release was issued by the group of nuclear-armed nations on Monday (3/1/2022), with the signatories saying they, “Confirm that nuclear war cannot be won and must not be fought.”

They also stressed that, “Nuclear weapons should serve defensive purposes, deter aggression, and prevent war rather than be used to start such conflicts.”

The declaration was praised by Russia’s Foreign Ministry, which said it was an important development for international security.
“Russia firmly believes that there is no winner in nuclear war, and it should not be let go. We consistently promote the idea of asserting this principle by all 5 nuclear states,” said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.
“Moscow was the main driver behind that statement,” Zakharova said.
