The Russian security service FSB claims to have “eliminated” four Ukrainian saboteurs who tried to enter Russia.
The four tried to get into Bryansk county, reports the state-controlled Russian news agency Tass on Wednesday. The county is located in the north of Ukraine and has been attacked several times in the past.
It was previously reported that four people were killed in the incident. The FSB claims that the group was equipped with foreign weapons and explosive charges, and that it planned to carry out provocations and acts of sabotage on Russian soil.

The announcement comes a day after the governor of Bryansk, Aleksandr Bogomaz, said that Russian soldiers and security services had stopped a group of Ukrainians near a village located just over 3 kilometers from the border.
Bogomaz then stated that no people were killed, but that Ukrainian grenade attacks in the area had killed a livestock and destroyed industrial buildings.
In recent months, explosions and attacks in Russian border areas have been reported almost every day, including in Bryansk. Russian authorities usually accuse Ukrainian forces or pro-Ukrainian saboteurs of being behind it.
