Russia claims they are making territorial gains in Kharkiv
Russia claims it has “liberated” a village in eastern Ukraine’s Kharkiv region. It concerns the village of Hrjanikovka, near the important city of Kupiansk. Kyiv has not confirmed the loss.
The small Hrjanikovka is located in the area that also fell into Russian hands after the invasion last year, until the major Ukrainian counter-offensive in the autumn. People in Kupiansk now fear that the Russians also want to recapture their city. A Russian regional official said earlier that Russia wants all lost territories in Kharkiv back.
The Ukrainian army said earlier on Saturday that the Russians were carrying out “offensive actions” in a number of places along the frontline, including Kupiansk. There is also fighting again at Bakhmut, the city in the Donetsk region that has been most heavily besieged for months.
On Saturday morning, Kyiv already reported new airstrikes on several cities. There were several explosions, but the damage is not yet clear. To prevent further problems with the energy network, the power was turned off in a number of areas as a precaution.

Number of Russian casualties since the start of the invasion
According to the United States, 200,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or injured since the start of the war. That said US Secretary of State Antony Blinken at the security conference in Munich.
Blinken said the cost of the war to Russia continues to mount. “Likewise, there are another million Russians who have left their country because they do not want to be part of this war. They do not agree with the direction the country has taken.”
Furthermore, according to the minister, at least a thousand companies have terminated their business activities in Russia for fear of reputational damage.
The Ukrainian army says 142,270 Russian soldiers have been killed since the invasion began.
