Russia claims some areas of Ukraine are back to normal, Zelensky asks for one percent of NATO power

Reported BloombergMaria Zakharova, spokeswoman for Russia’s foreign ministry, has claimed that the conflict in Russia, which the country calls a “special military operation”, is already planning for a return to normal.

This claim is disputed by most analysts and western governments, most of whom say that Vladimir Putin actually “never planned” it.

Zakharova also claims that in areas “liberated” by Russia, life is “returning to normal”.

It is not clear which area is meant.

On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has told NATO leaders meeting in Brussels that Ukraine needs only a small part of the alliance’s combined strength.

“You can give us 1 percent of all your planes. One percent of all your tanks. One percent!” he said in an address on Facebook CNN.

“You have thousands of fighter jets, but we haven’t been given one. We asked for tanks so we could unblock our city. You have at least 20,000 tanks, but we don’t have a clear answer yet,” Zelensky said.

He urged leaders to make the decisions necessary to create it.

“We can’t just buy these things. Such supplies depend directly on NATO decisions, on political decisions,” Zelensky said.

He also said NATO leaders should recognize what the Ukrainian armed forces have shown in the fight against Russia.

“Please, never tell us again that our soldiers do not meet NATO standards. We have shown what standard we can reach.”

“And we have shown how much we can give for the common security of Europe and the world,” Zelensky said.
