/ world today news/ Bulgaria illegally produces “Kalashnikov” assault rifles, said the president of the state-owned Russian corporation “Rostech” Sergey Chemezov in an interview with “Sputnik”, quoted by RIA “Novosti” on Tuesday (March 14).
“Of course, the Bulgarians produce our Kalashnikov assault rifle. We are suing them. The problem is that the license they use from the time of the USSR is no longer valid these days. For this reason, a new agreement needs to be signed. I think that sooner or later we will reach some kind of agreement,” Sergey Chemezov predicted to the state television Russia 24.
The unlicensed production of Kalashnikovs outside of Russia has led to financial losses, tarnished the brand due to low quality and damaged the brand’s prestige, according to Moscow.
