Russian health authorities have confirmed a new record of daily infections in recent hours with more than 41,300 affected, reaching 8.8 million affected since the start of the pandemic, now at its peak in the country.
The Russian center for monitoring the coronavirus has reported exactly 41,335 new cases and 1,188 deaths in the last hours, up to a total of 245,000 deaths since the beginning of the crisis.
The territories with the highest contagion rate are the Russian capital (6,880), Saint Petersburg (3,138) and the Moscow region (3,085), where the authorities are trying to do everything possible to accelerate the vaccination campaign in the country.
Kremlin spokesman Dimitri Peskov acknowledged on Monday that “the situation is not easy” and added that “the beds are occupied to a great extent.” “The situation is not getting any less complicated these days,” he stressed.
