Russian users are reportedly no longer able to download Windows 10 and Windows 11 as the company continues to crack down on Western technology.
Users attempting to download an ISO of the latest iteration of Windows will be greeted with a “404 error message”, says BleepingComputer.
Apparently, Russian users can still download the Windows 11 Media Creation Tool, however it results in “error 0x80072F8F-0x20000” according to website sources.
It’s not clear at this point whether this download problem stemmed from a technical glitch on Microsoft’s part, or if it was a deliberate decision.
Users located in Russia can still download the latest version of Windows if they use a Virtual Private Network or VPN to mask their location.
