The Ministry of Industry and Trade said over the weekend that there were cases where basic foodstuffs were being bought “obviously in excess of what is needed for private consumption” in order to resell them at a higher price.
Retailers’ organizations have proposed allowing traders to standardize sales of specific goods per person, the ministry said in a statement.
“The Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture supported the initiative of traders ‘organizations,” the statement said, stating that the applicable standardization policies would be developed by the traders’ organizations themselves.
This applies to basic commodities whose prices are regulated by the state, including bread, rice, flour, eggs, and certain meat and dairy products.
