Russia Begins to Feel Severe Impact of Sanctions and Boycott on Attack on Ukraine

MOSCOWKOMPAS.com – Since the West imposed sanctions on Russia for his invasion of Ukraineordinary Russians feel the painful effects.

The situation was exacerbated by the boycott of a number of international companies, the payment system did not operate and caused problems with cash withdrawals, so that residents could not buy certain goods.

“Apple Pay hasn’t worked since yesterday. It’s impossible to pay with it anywhere – on the bus, in the cafe,” said the resident Moscow Tatyana Usmanova told the AP as reported on Thursday (3/3/2022).

“Plus, in one supermarket they limit the number of essential items one person can buy.”

Apple announced that it would stop selling iPhones and other popular products in Russia, along with restricting services like Apple Pay.

Apple’s move comes along with boycotts from other global companies, as part of their reaction to protest Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Dozens of foreign and international companies have pulled their businesses out of Russia.

Major car brands stop exporting their vehicles; Boeing and Airbus suspended the supply of aircraft parts and services to Russian airlines; major Hollywood studios stopped their film releases. The list will likely continue to grow.

The move comes outside the response of the United States (US) and other Western countries, which hit Russia with its unprecedented wide and harsh sanctions.

Western allies have expelled major Russian banks from the SWIFT international payment system, restricted high-tech exports to Russia and severely restricted the use of Moscow’s foreign currency reserves.
