The war that was going on Ukraine is entering what some local officials say could be the final phase – the most dangerous – as Russian military forces advance at their fastest pace soon since the attack started in early 2022, and the Western countries are trying to excavate Kyiv.
In its announcement, the research institute of the Ministry of Emergency Affairs of Russia did not link the bomb shelter to any current crisis.
However, this announcement was made after the administration of the President United States (US) Joe Biden ultimately allowing Ukraine to use its country-supplied long-range missiles to penetrate deeper into Russian territory.

Ukraine and the increasing global tensions?
Thank you for joining us today on World Today News. We have with us two guests, Dr. Alexei Bogdanov, a senior researcher at the Ministry of Emergency Affairs of Russia, and Ms. Elena Chernyshova, a journalist from The Moscow Times.
Dr. Bogdanov, we’d like to start with you. Can you tell us more about the new bomb shelter, KUB-M, that Russia has just begun mass-producing? What are its key features and how does it differ from other conventional bomb shelters?
Dr. Alexei Bogdanov: Thank you for having me. KUB-M is a multi-functional bomb shelter designed to protect civilians from various man-made hazards and natural disasters, including radiation and shock waves. Its unique feature is its mobility, as it can be towed by a truck and assembled quickly in any location where it’s needed. It is also equipped with modern technology that can filter out radiation and other contaminants, making it an effective solution for protecting people in the event of a nuclear emergency. Compared to conventional bomb shelters, KUB-M is more versatile and adaptable to different terrain and weather conditions, especially in Russia’s northern regions where permafrost is prevalent.
Ms. Chernyshova, as a journalist, what are your thoughts on this development? Does Russia’s decision to increase production of these shelters signal the possibility of an escalation in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine?
Ms. Elena Chernyshova: Well, certainly, it’s noteworthy that Russia has increased production of these shelters at a time when tensions are high in the region. However, it’s important to remember that Russia has always had a significant bomb shelter program due to its geographical location and history. It’s also worth mentioning that the announcement came after President Biden’s decision to allow Ukraine to use long-range missiles, which might suggest a defense measure rather than an escalation. Nonetheless, the timing is undeniably suspicious, and it raises questions about Russia’s intentions.
Dr. Bogdanov, in your opinion, how important is it for Russia to have a robust bomb shelter program like this, given its current situation with
